I meant to post about this when I first heard about it about a week ago, but sometimes things just don't work out that way. Abby Wambach, star player and leading scorer of the United States women's soccer team, broke her leg last week, and is expected to be sidelined for about 12 weeks. Because the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing start in two weeks, this means she'll miss the games and the team will be missing out on their flagship player.
As I've said before, Abby is a scoring machine and a dominant presence on the soccer pitch, so to not be able to see her playing with the U.S. team this summer sucks pretty badly. I'll still be rooting them on, though, and hoping for a speedy recovery for Abby.

Yeah, I heard this on the radio a few days ago. Hopefully the team will be able to come together and have a great games anyway.
