One of my favorite techies of all time, Tim Berners-Lee, finally got some credit (not quite the credit he deserves, however) on Tuesday for inventing the World Wide Web. He received $1.2 million as part of the first Millennium Technology Prize, only half a year after being knighted in Britain. If it weren't for Tim's contributions, you wouldn't be reading this right now, you'd have no clue what a web browser was, there's a good chance you wouldn't even own a computer, and you'd probably be sitting on the couch in your Hammer pants, watching some cheesy soap opera on TV. So let's give a well-deserved round of applause to Mr. Berners-Lee.
