As a semi-Christmas gift to myself this year, I decided to download 4.56 GB of data via BitTorrent. This has to be the single largest download I've ever done in my life. It took roughly 20 hours to complete, but it was worth every hour. It's hard to believe that it once took me about the same amount of time to download a new version of Internet Explorer back when I had my 14,000 baud modem.

It was worth it, though, because I downloaded 10 discs worth of live Pearl Jam. To be more specific, I downloaded Green Habit, which according to The Sky I Scrape contains "a version of every original song they have played live, as well as most of the covers they have performed live." 10 CDs of pure goodness.

If you're at all interested, I'd recommend downloading a BitTorrent client like ABC and then getting started on the torrent.

Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and God bless broadband.

Wouldn't that be 14,400 baud? :-D

Pearl Jam is pretty cool that they allow their live performances to be distributed like this - a lot of bands could learn a thing or two (or five) [or twenty] from them.

Oh, and Merru Christmas Bernie!

Yes, you're very right. 14,400, not 14,000. It's been that long!

Merry Christmas to you too.
