Remember how I complained about Firefox not cleaning up after itself last month? Well, according to Asa Dotzler, that will no longer be the case in the next 1.0 release.

Ah, that is wonderful news. I currently have 4-5 copies of Firefox "installed" on this laptop. It bugs me eerytime I look at the add/remove software screen, but I haven't worked up the motivation to clean it out myself yet. I hope the install is smart enough to delete _all_ of the old versions.

Yeah, it's uber-annoying. In the past I've had to uninstall the new version I just installed, re-install the old version and then uninstall it so it would remove the old icon. Then I'd reinstall the new version again. Talk about a pain in the butt.

I just got 1.0.3 pushed to me, and it seems like everything is cleaned up. Another good part is that 1.0.3 is a true patch instead of a munged full install. Yay for progress!
