I have a question. If "Larry Tesler is one of the industry's foremost experts on creating great user experiences," why does Amazon.com's website suck so bad?

I'd disagree - I think the Amazon websites actually work quite well. In the book 'E-Commerce User Experience' (ISBN 0970607202), Amazon was actually described as being one of the better e-commerce websites, implementing many usability features. Having said that, the book is a few years old, and the Amazon websites have evolved, though I think that the fundamental design and functionality still remains the same.
