I have to admit, when I heard that Daniel Craig was going to be playing the next James Bond, I didn't quite know what to think of it. Afterall, he doesn't quite fit the profile of a Sean Connery — my favorite Bond of all time — or a Pierce Brosnan. However, seeing his picture in some of the news stories I read did remind me a bit of Roger Moore.

Only time will tell if Craig can succeed to the 007 throne in a way that his predecessors did, but after watching Layer Cake for the first time tonight, I do have to say my faith has been boosted a bit. Craig is excellent in the movie and displays many of the traits that I think are necessary for being successful as James Bond. If he can live up to that performance (or better it) in Casino Royale, it might not take very long for people to move on from the "Brosnan era" of Bond.
