As of last week I've added a new item to my geek arsenal. Believe it or not, as geeky as I am, I've never been much of a gadget guy. I jumped on board the TiVo train really late in the game, I didn't get an iPod until I was fairly certain I could be beaten if seen in public without one, and I probably won't own an Xbox 360 until Halo 4 comes out.

So it's probably fitting that I've just now finally entered the world of wireless and bought myself (and my girlfriend, of course) a brand spanking new laptop. Because I'm a loyal consumer and I've had such good luck with Gateway computers, I purchased a Gateway NX550X Notebook, with a few extra bells and whistles tacked on. Thanks to Centrino Mobile Technology and a battery upgrade, I'm now finally able to take advantage of a wireless DSL gateway that I've had for a few years. Setting up the wireless was a snap (almost a little too easy), and therefore I'm now able to blog from my couch (which I am doing right now).

Sticking with the Star Wars theme of my other computers, I decided to name our new laptop Lando, but that was quickly overruled when my girlfriend suggested Chewbacca instead. Given the fact that I can't get her to watch any of the six movies, I figure any name she can remember is a worthy moniker.

Chewbacca should come in handy as I do a little bit of work-related travelling over the next month or two, and it certainly is nice to be able to kick back on my living room couch and send my thoughts out to the world. Hopefully you're just as comfortable when you receive them.
