I'm about to watch my blog readership decline quite a bit, but so be it. My GrayModern theme for Firefox has been updated to work with Firefox 1.5.

Upgrading from GrayModern 0.6.2 to GrayModern 0.7 was no easy feat. A lot has gone down in the days since Firefox 1.0 was released, and if it wasn't for a very detailed, helpful post in the MozillaZine forums I wouldn't have been able to pull this update off (without starting from scratch, at least).

GrayModern 0.7, which is now officially available for download, fixes nearly all of the compatibility issues with the latest version of Firefox (also note that it breaks compatibility with older versions) and also fixes the issue where a print icon was not available in small icons mode. The latter was one of the most frequently reported issues, so hopefully that will make a few people happy.

For a little more information on this latest release of GrayModern, check out my post in the forum or my Projects page. Once a bug in Mozilla Update's developer console gets fixed the theme is reviewed and accepted, this new version will show up at the Mozilla Update site as well.

And finally, let the record show that I was up after 5am getting this bad boy out the door. The things I do for my fellow Firefox fanatics ;)

Bernie,

Thank you sooooooooooo much!!! Ever since I started using firefox more than a year ago, I have only used gray modern. When gm was down for this past week, I could not find - for the life of me - a theme that even comes close.

You have done a tremendous service that the firefox community owes you a huge debt of gratitude for. Thank you again!

We all apreciate your hard work more than you know!

The gods are happy with us today for they have laboured long and hard. Thank you so much, Bernie, for updating GrayModern for FF 1.5! My eyes thank you from their deepest wells. Once again, this theme is sheer genius. Your efforts are much much appreciated.

Well, it's good to know that when I decide to upgrade to FF 1.5, my favorite theme will be available to me! But, until then, all the searching I've done leads me to GrayModern 0.7, which won't install on FF 1.0. Any idea where I can locate GrayModern 0.62, what seems to be the last version than installed on FF 1.0?

Levander, feel free to download GrayModern 0.6.2. Just remember to drag the .jar file to your Themes window to install it. However, I would highly recommend upgrading to the latest version of Firefox.

Nice that it works for 1.5 now, but there is a small issue. On the Options, Privacy menu, the Setting button at the bottom of the window is cut off. Again, great work and keep it up!

Bernie, I'm glad to see GrayModern back. But, as I had pointed out on the MozillaZine forums, the only niggling issue was that in small icon mode the icons for refresh, stop, and home seem to be spaced too widely apart. I just do not remember if that was by design or not (I hadn't used the theme since it wasn't working with 1.0.x versions of Firefox). If by design, that's cool, since unlike one gray modern clone out there, it actually uses the custom-sized mozilla throbber that I like without hassle. I'm curious though if there might be a tweak that can adjust the spacing for the small icons.

Thanks so much for a theme that's easy on the eyes. One minor quibble-it doesn't seem to play well w/ the Locate in Bookmark Folders ext. (or is that vica versa???)Is a fix for this planned?
