I've decided to install the latest and greatest versions of Apache, PHP and MySQL on my main development machine tonight after having installed them on my laptop only a couple months ago. I figured I'd simply Google the instructions and go from there. Then I saw how convoluted and crappy most of the available walkthroughs are.

I decided to fire up my laptop and see if I was forward-thinking enough to bookmark the site I originally used to get the three set up on there. Luckily enough I was, and I should be up and running on my main computer in no time.

For anyone who finds herself in a similar situation, I highly recommend following the instructions over at Server Tutorials.
