Given that my home network is composed of computers that are named after Star Wars characters, I sometimes type "chewbacca" or "r2d2" in Firefox's location bar in an attempt to access their local webservers. I've noticed a couple times that from my Linux box this takes me to the Star Wars Databank instead of my local network.

At first I thought, okay, the Mozilla guys integrated a bit of an easter egg that lets you access any Star Wars character's Databank page just by typing that character's name in the location bar. Well, it only took trying Leia to realize that wasn't 100% true. What I did find, though, is that typing any word or phrase into Firefox's location bar is the equivalent of performing an "I'm Feeling Lucky" search over at Google.com.

So if you're ever in a hurry to get to my blog (wishful thinking on my part), you can just type "Bernzilla" in your location bar. Or, if you're looking for a good excuse to eat less and exercise more, just type "Jabba."

I'm sure I'm just slow to catch on and most people knew about this already, but I figured I'd blog about it anyway, just in case.

You continue to amaze me, Bernie, by what you do know and what you don't know. This is an example of the latter. :-)

I discovered you can do this by accident a year or so ago when I had a brain fart and by accident typed my yahoo email address in the location bar. When I hit enter, it took me to yahoo's email logon page and I was prompted to enter my password.
Just for giggles, I then entered my first name in the location bar to see where it would lead me to and, sadly, entering my name directed me a porn site. YIKES, my first name on the internet is a porn site!! Or, at least it was back then. I don't know if it still is as I havent't checked it out since then. :)

Sorry if I'm repeating any information you may have here on your site becasue I can't remember where I first discovered this neat little Firefox trick:

If you want easy access to a site you often visit, you can assign the site a keyword that you type in the location bar. And when you hit enter, it will go directly to that site---you can do this as opposed to going into your bookmarks and searching for the site. For example:

a) Toolbar > Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks.
b) Select a site within your bookmarks that you want easy access to.
c) Right click on the link > Properties > Keyword
d) Enter a Keyword that you will type in the location bar which will direct you to that site. When finished, click OK.

For example, if you want easy access to Bernie's site, you could enter BZ as the keyword to access Bernie's site. Any time you wish to visit Bernie's site (or any site you choose with any keyword you've entered), all you would need to do is type your keyword, in this example, BZ, in the location bar and Firefox will take you to Bernie's site.

Again, sorry Bernie if your site is where I first learned about this Firefox trick. I've been using this trick for so long now and I honestly can't remember where I discovered it.
