As part of my recovery, I've watched all the James Bond movies filmed in the 60s that starred Sean Connery. I didn't watch them in chronological order, but that didn't really matter, since they all stand on their own pretty well.

One thing I noticed while watching (apart from all the Austin Powers inspirations) is that in You Only Live Twice, James Bond is offered his drink "stirred, not shaken" to which he replies, "perfect."

That seemed odd to me, since I always remembered his preference to be "shaken, not stirred." Sure enough, I looked on Wikipedia and found the following:

"Shaken, not stirred" is a famous catch phrase of Ian Fleming's fictional British Secret Service agent, James Bond and his preference for how he wished his martini prepared. The phrase first appears in the novel Diamonds Are Forever (1956), though Bond does not actually say the line until Dr. No (1958). It was first uttered in the films by Sean Connery in Goldfinger in 1964 (though the villain Dr. Julius No offers this drink and utters those words in the first film, Dr. No in 1962) and was used in numerous Bond films thereafter, with the notable exception of You Only Live Twice, in which the drink is offered stirred, not shaken.

So there's a little James Bond trivia for you.

Oh, and one more thing: Honey Ryder was easily the best Bond girl of the 60s.

Other interesting things - according to Casino Royale (the book, not the ridiculous films), he has a scar down his right cheek, smokes 70 cigarettes a day and enjoys 'the sweet tang of rape'.

Who'd a-thought it?
