Warning: This blog entry was written two or more years ago. Therefore, it may contain broken links, out-dated or misleading content, or information that is just plain wrong. Please read on with caution.

If you're like me and you occasionally like to download videos from YouTube for posterity's sake or to do some editing of the original video on your own computer, you've likely used vixy.net. However, if you're also like me, you've likely pulled your hair out more than once while using vixy.net, because it's slow as goats.

Well, worry no more. Tonight I saw on their site that they now offer a downloadable version of their service that you can install and run locally on your PC. You'll need .NET Framework 2.0 on your computer, but that's pretty easy to install.

I just installed it and tested it out and it definitely seems a lot faster than dealing with the web interface, presumably because a majority of the hard work they're doing on the server side has been pushed into the software.

Anyway, it gets a thumbs-up from me, so I thought I'd share.
